Tradition & History

In 1966,

Lee Cummings, along with Harold Omer, started “Harold’s Take-Home” in Lima, Ohio where Lee first introduced his Famous Recipe® Chicken. Word spread quickly about this great new recipe and later that year the first franchise unit was sold to Jim Sanders and opened in Columbus, Ohio.

By 1967,

The fifth franchise unit was opened in Springfield, Ohio. Later that year, units followed in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio as well as Kalamazoo, Michigan and Famous Recipe was on its way.

Today,

Lee’s Famous Recipe® Chicken has over 135 stores through the Midwest and Southwestern United States. International Division is growing at an amazing pace, with Stores now Open in Canada, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Libya and Soon, Egypt. With new stores planned in the near future, Lee’s will be introducing our famous flavor to more and more people in the years to come. people in the years to come.

  • As new areas develop in Jordan the flexibility is there to Sub-Franchise with in our territory.
  • (DIFR, l.l.c.) has the flexibility to sign contracts with local food suppliers and collect proceeds, thus creating an additional profit center, and the collection of royalties from sub-franchised stores.
  • Most importantly, taste, quality, and variety, are exactly the same as KFC, the Chain Leader in the Fried Chicken Business.
  • Lee's Famous recipe, Inc., has allowed (DIFR, l.l.c.) to utilize fully at its discretion; local suppliers, paper goods manufacturers, and more. That is to say, if desired, not one thing needs to be imported from the United States, all food products and packaging can be handled locally.
  • (DIFR, l.l.c.) has a preassembled team, made up of the current Chili House administration, which will lead to the success of Lee's. The administration will consist of a highly talented group with many years of experience in accounting, site selection, cost control, management...etc.

At Lee’s Famous Recipe® Chicken our recipe for success is simple - serve the best-tasting food around. That’s Why our Famous Recipe Chicken is always cooked fresh, never frozen. Then it’s honey dipped, hand breaded in our special blend of herbs and spices and pressure cooked to seal in the flavor that put Lee’s on the map in the first place. Our classic chicken isn’t the only thing that takes center stage. Our Jumbo Strips and Jumbo Boneless Wings make up the country’s best-tasting, most dippable chicken - no bones about it. Then, We complement our one-of-a-kind chicken with thirteen Southern-style dishes available in individual or large servings - all made fresh daily, and all irresistible. Add to that our hot, fluffy biscuits right out of the oven, and you’ve got the essential sidekick for our Southern specialties.
